Wider availability of sanitary products for isolated facilities

    Expired
Additional sanitary products to be made available in isolated learning facilities across campus. During an architecture SSLG, it was raised that no sanitary products are available in the studio space at Kathmor. This matter was raised to FXPlus and the answer given by them was there are supplies elsewhere on campus. It is not acceptable for students to need to leave their place of learning, cross a car park, main road and then wonder the campus to find these items.

Why is it relevant to Falmouth & Exeter students?

There are several departments and learning spaces throughout the campuses which due to their isolation, lack the resources available for a comfortable student experience. As department rep for SADI, the issue directly impacts students within the school I represent, but if this is an issue for our spaces, then others on the campuses must also be experiencing this.

What positive impact would it have?

By providing additional products to aid in student wellbeing and provide support in isolated learning spaces, this will create a positive learning environment as lack of access to emergency facilities can cause unnecessary anxiety, embarrassment and complications that can impede student life and learning.

3:01pm on 4 Dec 25 Update from Forum 4th Dec 2025: After being put to a student vote, this proposal has been accepted as an Agreed Action. This means that whilst not a Union Priority (and therefore not a key focus with Officer budget allocated), the Sabbatical Officer team will still work on this proposal and consult the appropriate members of staff/students in carrying out this work. This proposal was voted through as an Agreed Action rather than a Union Priority due to the fact the provision of sanitary products is an existing scheme across campuses, and this would be focusing on enhancing/expanding the existing provision. Any students who wish to be involved in the work of carrying out this Agreed Action, please reach out to Izzy Brinkley (isabel.brinkley@thesu.org.uk) - I'd love to hear from you!
