Presidents

SU President Falmouth

Lizzy Marshall

Hey, I’m Lizzy- your Falmouth President! My jam: has to be all about living by the beach and competing with my Fusion Family Cheerleading Team. I also LOVE hummus, it is the way to my heart - red pepper hummus specifically, and I’m a massive advocate for the food in Falmouth. I can probably recommend or give you reviews on most restaurants here (the food is incredible).

SU President Exeter

Cara Chittenden

Hi, I’m Cara and I’m the Exeter President. In my spare time I like to walk, run and explore beaches around Cornwall. I should probably say that I read a lot but I’m taking a prolonged break after three years of a literature degree. Whilst patiently waiting in lockdown for it to be safe for the clubs to reopen, I’ve spent my time trying to get better at cooking and re-watching Made in Chelsea.

SU President Welfare and Inclusivity

Charlotte Agnew

Hello there! I'm Charlotte and I'm your President Welfare and Inclusivity. After work I love to come home to my many houseplants - my envisioned future home looks a little more like a greenhouse! I love driving my little yellow car around Cornwall and stretching my legs on big walks. I'm an energetic veggie and love to dance to burn off the energy. When it's not so cold I do love a sea swim to help with my psoriasis and mental health!

SU President Student Experience

Amelia Banton

Hello. I'm Amelia and I'm the Student Experience President. When I'm not working, I'm likely to be found either on long solitary walks listening to podcasts, or reading. The pandemic has really made me realise how much I value my friends and I've kept my sanity through regular catch up calls with people from all different chapters of my life - and I'm loving that it's now legal to meet those who live nearby at the beach.

Senior Management Team

Chief Executive Officer

Sarah Davey

Hello, my role is about the whole Students’ Union and I work very closely with Officers and the Trustee Board to ensure that we continue to strategically develop for the benefit of our members, achieving our purpose and charitable objectives. I love lots of things! Spending time with family, friends, a good curry, books, film, a lovely cup of tea, and, although Plymouth born, it's jam first for me too!

Membership Services Director

Hayley Rowley

Hayley is the Membership Services Director. She oversees the Student Opportunities Team and is part of The SU’s senior management team, working closely with the Presidents to support them in their objectives. Hayley graduated from UWIC in 2009, joined The SU (which was called FXU back then) in January 2010 and has undertaken a number of roles within the Student Opportunities Team and loves being part of The Students Union. Hayley is Cornish born and bred and will ensure everyone eats their cream tea the right way (jam first)!

Membership Services Director (maternity cover)

Sophie Harrison

Sophie’s role supports and oversees our membership facing teams, which includes Student Opportunities, Student Voice & Advice. She loves being outdoors and playing rugby in her spare time for a local team. You can often find her listening to musicals, cooking up a storm or doing some form of learning (because who doesn't love education)!

Director of Central Services

Dan Matthews

Hello! I am responsible for HR, Finance, IT, Data, Communications, Facilities and Health & Safety – areas which support across the Union. I believe in helping people to be the best they can be and have a passion for learning, development and progress. I like being outdoors, weightlifting, Doctor Who, uncooked cake mixture, the colour yellow and small animals, amongst other things.

Project Officer

Karen Pardoe

Hi, I work closely with the Chief Executive, Officers and Trustees to enable and support good governance with The Students’ Union. Outside of work I love to hang out with my family, see my friends, travel, swim in the sea, run and read in the sun.

Advice

Advice Manager

Richard Scrase

I have an ‘eye for detail’ and a sense of ‘fair play’ and its importance. Outside of work, I take photographs, play records and grow trees.

Advisor

Jo Barrett

Hi, I’m Jo, one of the two advisors in our Advice Team. Outside of work I am a real ‘foodie’; I love planning, buying, cooking, eating and thinking about food! I’m a keen walker and have completed the Camino de Santiago. My newest passion is sea swimming after work.

Central Services

Finance & Administration Officer

Lucy Thomas

Hello, I’m Lucy. I process all the payments, invoices, reimbursements, income and memberships for the SU. I’ve been at The SU for four and a half years now and before that I’ve been here, there and everywhere - working in Cornwall, London and Paris!

HR Assistant

Becky Anderson

Hi, I’m Becky, the HR assistant for The SU. I help the SU staff members with all things HR related. A Spotify playlist is the soundtrack to my life, I love music and a daily workout is my morning ritual… often followed by a coffee! I’m a self-professed foodie and love to cook meals for my family. I enjoy being outdoors, especially by the sea and I love a good Netflix series.

Communications & Design Coordinator

Emma Farley

Hi, I’m Emma. I work with the Presidents to share their messages, plan and implement campaigns, circulate e-news, and more (literally everything that comes out of The Students’ Union comes through the Comms Team). I’ve been with The SU for nearly eight years. Prior to that I studied Writing for the Media and completed a PGCE. I’m Cornish through and through (jam first!), and a proud geek, blogging about books and stationery in my ‘spare time’.

Communications & Design Coordinator

Ellie Russell

Hello! I work as part of the Comms Team where I get to work on many of the exciting campaigns happening across The SU. I have previously studied at both Exeter and Falmouth University and am in my element when exploring the amazing coastline & scenery that Cornwall has on offer!

Communications & Design Coordinator

Jasmin Jelley

My job as a part of the comms team is to ensure the smooth running of all our day-to-day communications, and supporting all of our campaigns. I studied English Literature here at Exeter’s Cornwall campus, where I had a small stint working for the SU as Partnerships Assistant, and I’m pretty passionate about social justice! When I’m not working, you’ll find me exploring the Cornish coastline and arts scene and drinking alllll the coffee.

Design Intern

Brooke Warner

Hello! My job is to work as part of the Comms Teams, helping to create all of the exciting graphic content that you see on socials and around campus. I completed my degree in Graphic Design at Falmouth University in May of this year, and am having a great time working with all the lovely people here at The SU!

Student Voice

Representation & Democracy Coordinator (Welfare & Liberation)

Gwen Scolding

I work with the Student Voice team to ensure equality, inclusivity and student welfare is a priority in all that we do. Before this, I worked in community engagement with a focus on increasing the representation and advocacy for minority groups, as well as organising large participatory events which celebrated diversity.

Student Voice Coordinator (Truro)

Hannah Partington

I am currently working specifically with our Truro based students to research, develop and implement activities, processes and great ideas for their student experience. I have worked within Higher Education since I was the SU President for Falmouth College of Arts (what Falmouth Uni used to be!), about a million years ago). I like to keep active (netball is my fave), making and eating cake, and enjoying the Kernow way of life.

Student Voice Coordinator (Falmouth)

Lewis Nurton

I am the Student Voice Coordinator for Falmouth University presently. I organise the recruitment and training of Reps and oversee the Rep meetings. I work closely with the Falmouth President to ensure that student voice exists and is heard at every level within Falmouth University. I also coordinate Student Voice related campaigns and events, such as the ‘Big Rep Meeting’ and ‘Speak Week’.

Student Voice Coordinator (Exeter)

Eliza Day

Hi, I'm Eliza. I am the Student Voice Coordinator for Exeter students. This means I work with Reps, staff, and my colleagues in the SU to make sure every student's voice is heard and that we continually work to improve your university experience. I have a background in international volunteering, TESOL, and student democracy from my own time at university. In my off hours you'll probably find me watching films, playing rugby, planning my next travel destination, or baking (and then eating).

Student Opportunities

Student Engagement Coordinator

Kerry Blewett-Hill

Kerry is responsible for supporting student fundraising, participation projects, sustainability, events and engaging students in fun extra-curricular activities. From wellbeing to watersports and everything in between, she aims to make you feel like you belong. Kerry has had a varied career and has spent time as a full-time athlete, sports therapist and professional sailor across the globe before returning home to Cornwall. Kerry joined the Student Opportunities team in 2019 and loves working at The Students’ Union (almost as much as she likes Toffee Crisps and a natter!).

Sports Coordinator

Ceri Harvey

Ceri is the Sports Coordinator at The Students’ Union and is responsible for managing and supporting all student-led sports clubs. Ceri graduated from the University of Brighton in 1998 with a BSc (Hons) in Sports Science. After graduating, she completed a PGCE and taught Secondary PE and Maths. Ceri then went on to work as a Sports Development Officer and Event Manager for Cornwall Council Leisure Services, which became Tempus Leisure, before joining the Student Opportunities team at Falmouth and Exeter Students’ Union in 2018.

Societies Coordinator

Rosie Lea

As Societies Coordinator, Rosie’s job is to support 90+ societies. This encompasses a wide range of societies here at the SU, from cultural, faith, academic based societies to general interest societies- so there really is something for everyone. Rosie has been working for The SU for over 3 years, and has a background is in Events and Travel – two of her big passions.
