SU President Falmouth

Ben Statham-Wilkins

Hello, I’m Ben, your SU President Falmouth 2021/22. As President it is my job is to make sure you are taken care of and have the best experience throughout your student and academic life. I was elected this year by the current students of Falmouth due to my strong manifesto points and possibly because of a campaign TIKTOK which went viral, who knows? I am here to represent YOU to the higher ups within the university and make sure your voice is heard by them.

SU President Exeter

Stevie Preece

Ello ello, I’m Stevie, your President Exeter for 2021/22! My accent isn’t really reflected in text but for those who haven’t spoken to me before, I’m from Wales and no, I do not say ‘whatsa occurrin’ in an excessively strong welsh accent ~ Gavin & Stacey reference. I’m a big lover of cereal – what better way to start your day than with a bowl full of crunchy nut clusters with chocolate flakes? I will challenge whoever disagrees. When I’m stressed, I usually choreograph dance routines to teach or just video for fun because I LOVE TO BOOGIE. I’m also a ski-enthusiast even though I’ve only been skiing 4 times… lol. It’s a niche interest but my dream career is to work on sustainability within the ski industry because I’m all about environmentalism since I studied environmental sciences as an undergraduate.

SU President Welfare and Inclusivity

Charlotte Agnew

Hello there! I'm Charlotte and I'm your President Welfare and Inclusivity. After work I love to come home to my many houseplants - my envisioned future home looks a little more like a greenhouse! I love driving my little yellow car around Cornwall and stretching my legs on big walks. I'm an energetic veggie and love to dance to burn off the energy. When it's not so cold I do love a sea swim to help with my psoriasis and mental health!

SU President Student Experience

Ellie Ricks

Hi there! I’m Ellie and I’m your President Student Experience. If you see me, expect me to be in every colour of the rainbow with my friends and an iced coffee! I’m as loud as my clothes and I love living it up around Falmouth, whether that be brunching in town or lounging on the beach now it’s officially legal again (wooooo!). When I’m not out and about you can find me at home, trying my very best to cook and enjoying a good mystery novel!

Senior Management Team

Chief Executive Officer

Sarah Davey

Hello, my role is about the whole Students’ Union and I work very closely with Officers and the Trustee Board to ensure that we continue to strategically develop for the benefit of our members, achieving our purpose and charitable objectives. I love lots of things! Spending time with family, friends, a good curry, books, film, a lovely cup of tea, and, although Plymouth born, it's jam first for me too!

Membership Services Director

Hayley Rowley

Hayley is the Membership Services Director. She oversees the Student Opportunities Team and is part of The SU’s senior management team, working closely with the Presidents to support them in their objectives. Hayley graduated from UWIC in 2009, joined The SU (which was called FXU back then) in January 2010 and has undertaken a number of roles within the Student Opportunities Team and loves being part of The Students Union. Hayley is Cornish born and bred and will ensure everyone eats their cream tea the right way (jam first)!

Director of Finance & Resources

Brenda McLennan

As the Director of Finance and Resources, my role encompasses our finance, compliance and people work. I make sure all the finances are up to date and correct, as well as taking the lead for Human Resources, IT, GDPR, Health & Safety and governance. I work closely with the whole team to make sure our processes are fit for purpose and we can support our members to have the best possible student experience. Having gained my accounting qualifications in my home country of Australia, I have now lived and worked in Bristol and Cornwall for over 20 years. Outside work I love the Cornish lifestyle and all that encompasses - especially anything to do with water. I also love cooking and baking the scones for the jam first!

Project Officer

Karen Pardoe

Hi, I work closely with the Chief Executive, Officers and Trustees to enable and support good governance with The Students’ Union. Outside of work I love to hang out with my family, see my friends, travel, swim in the sea, run and read in the sun.

Advice Manager

Richard Scrase

I have an ‘eye for detail’ and a sense of ‘fair play’ and its importance. Outside of work, I take photographs, play records and grow trees.

Jo Barrett

Hi, I’m Jo, one of the two advisors in our Advice Team. Outside of work I am a real ‘foodie’; I love planning, buying, cooking, eating and thinking about food! I’m a keen walker and have completed the Camino de Santiago. My newest passion is sea swimming after work.

Central Services

Finance & Administration Officer

Lucy Thomas

Hello, I’m Lucy. I process all the payments, invoices, reimbursements, income and memberships for the SU. I’ve been at The SU for four and a half years now and before that I’ve been here, there and everywhere - working in Cornwall, London and Paris!

Communications & Design Coordinator

Ellie Russell

Hello! I work as part of the Comms Team where I get to work on many of the exciting campaigns happening across The SU. I have previously studied at both Exeter and Falmouth University and am in my element when exploring the amazing coastline & scenery that Cornwall has on offer!

Design Intern

Rhianna Hinton

Hello, I'm Rhianna! I work as part of the Comms Team and do lots of bits and pieces to do with Design. I studied Fashion Design at Falmouth University and have only recently joined the team but I'm super excited to get involved in the design aspect of everything The SU related - whether that's aiding the Presidents with campaigns, social media work, or producing graphics that really represent you and your voice. When I'm not working you can expect to find me on the beach or in the sea as I'm a total coastal girl and love all things outdoors. I also love sunsets to the extent where I've been known to pull my little yellow mini (named Custard) over just to sit and watch if there's an especially good one! I'm always up for trying something new and my current obsession is taking very amateur film photos with my two retro cameras my parents bought to capture their travels around the world before I was born!

Student Voice

Student Voice Manager

Lewis Nurton

I am the Student Voice Manager for Falmouth University presently. I organise the recruitment and training of Reps and oversee the Rep meetings. I work closely with the Falmouth President to ensure that student voice exists and is heard at every level within Falmouth University. I also coordinate Student Voice related campaigns and events, such as the ‘Big Rep Meeting’ and ‘Speak Week’.

Student Voice Coordinator (Exeter)

Hannah Partington

Hello! My role in the SU is basically to ensure that all Exeter students in Cornwall get the chance to have their say on their university experience, and that voice is represented by well trained and proactive Course Reps, Subject Chairs, Education Officers, and ultimately the SU Presidents. I have worked within Higher Education since I was the SU President for Falmouth College of Arts (what Falmouth Uni used to be!), about a million years ago. I like to keep active (netball is my fave), making and eating cake, and enjoying the Kernow way of life.

Student Voice Coordinator (Falmouth)

Tom McIntosh

I’m the Student Voice Coordinator for Falmouth University. I’m here to support all the Falmouth Reps in any way I can. I help to recruit and train Reps and will be present in Rep meetings and SSLG’s. I also work closely with the Presidents to ensure that student voice is heard and recognised throughout Falmouth University. I studied Marine & Natural History Photography at Falmouth University and was a Rep for my three years here too so I have recent experience of what it’s like being a Rep. If you ever want to get in touch with any questions about what Reps or the Student Voice Team do then please do!

Student Opportunities

Student Opportunities Manager

Megan Beddoe

Hi, I am Megan and I am the Student Opportunities Manager. My role is to support the Student Opportunities team to deliver great activities and opportunities to students in Cornwall, through clubs, societies, and events. I came to the SU from Royal Holloway in Surrey where I worked in sport. Outside of work, I play rugby, bake sourdough bread and am excited to swim in the beautiful Cornish sea in good weather.

Student Engagement Coordinator

Kerry Blewett-Hill

Kerry is responsible for supporting student fundraising, participation projects, sustainability, events and engaging students in fun extra-curricular activities. From wellbeing to watersports and everything in between, she aims to make you feel like you belong. Kerry has had a varied career and has spent time as a full-time athlete, sports therapist and professional sailor across the globe before returning home to Cornwall. Kerry joined the Student Opportunities team in 2019 and loves working at The Students’ Union (almost as much as she likes Toffee Crisps and a natter!).

Sports Coordinator

Ceri Harvey

Ceri is the Sports Coordinator at The Students’ Union and is responsible for managing and supporting all student-led sports clubs. Ceri graduated from the University of Brighton in 1998 with a BSc (Hons) in Sports Science. After graduating, she completed a PGCE and taught Secondary PE and Maths. Ceri then went on to work as a Sports Development Officer and Event Manager for Cornwall Council Leisure Services, which became Tempus Leisure, before joining the Student Opportunities team at Falmouth and Exeter Students’ Union in 2018.

Societies Coordinator

Rosie Lea

As Societies Coordinator, Rosie’s job is to support 90+ societies. This encompasses a wide range of societies here at the SU, from cultural, faith, academic based societies to general interest societies- so there really is something for everyone. Rosie has been working for The SU for over 3 years, and has a background is in Events and Travel – two of her big passions.

Societies Coordinator (Maternity Cover)

Ellen Monaghan

I'm Ellen, Societies Coordinator this year whilst Rosie is on maternity leave. I'm here to support the SU societies with all of their needs from planning and running events to group funding and committee elections, as well as setting up new societies. I studied on the Penryn campus a couple of years ago, so it's great to be involved with the SU again! Outside of work I'm a gardener, veg eater, sea swimmer, activist and lots more.
