Supporting transgender and non-binary students

  • Signposting to resources
  • Submitting exec proposal to Forum
  • Pushing universities for answers on how this ruling will direct impact students
  • Asking what we can do to better support our trans and non-binary members

International student experience advisory boards (Exeter)

  • Starting pilot in Cornwall (Devon has had them for a year now)
  • Getting students in the room with university higherups to have direct input on change
  • Deciding format and topics that will work for and be relevant for Cornwall international students

Bussy Hussy

  • Employed student researchers to research our competitor universities bus prices
  • Have set up a meeting with higherups from Exeter and Falmouth to gain their support
  • Next we plan to meet with the Cornwall councillor (hopefully with support from the universities) who holds the transport portfolio to lobby for better student deals

SU awards

  • Have sat on award short listing panels to input on who will receive this years awards
  • Have been working hard on drafting a script for the SU award hosts (Us the sabbs)

UMHC assessment (Exeter)

  • Attended the university mental health charter assessment for Exeter up in Devon
  • Sat on multiple assessed panel to explain the student experience with wellbeing and mental health down in Cornwall

FXPLUS board

  • Sat in on FXPLUS board with our CEO to input on the student perspective in key decisions and make sure students are considered in every decision made

WICC - classism seminar (Exeter)

  • Attended multiple wellbeing inclusion and culture committees including a seminar on how classism directly impacts Exeter students and their student experience

Meetings meetings and a side of meetings

  • As per usual I am attending a myriad of meetings every week to ensure that Cornwall students are at the centre of everything that the universities do

Starting to think about handover

  • As my term here comes to an end I am beginning to think about what nuggets of knowledge I need to include in my handover to the incoming sabbs (and let me tell you there is a lot to write about!)
