It’s that time of year again, where last year’s Officers have fled the nest to be let out into the big wide world and we’ve welcomed in a group of fresh-faced Sabbatical Officers ready to start their term. It is always somewhat of a bittersweet time as we’ve said goodbye to Jadelle and Aisha, but who better to step into the shoes they’ve left than Max and Lottie?
Max (they/them), a recent Fine Art graduate, is your brand-new President Falmouth. As President, Max represents all Falmouth University students, with a particular focus on academic issues and representation, working alongside Course Reps and Department Reps. Alongside this, they will be working on their personal priority (that you elected them in on) which is all about student loan reform. Basically, lobbying the government to improve the student loan system for students.
Luckily for you (and the other Officers), Max is a Cornish local – growing up just down the road in Redruth – which means not only are they passionate about making life down here more affordable but they’ll be able to give you all the best recommendations. And when they’re not in the SU representing you, you’ll probably find them at the Penryn viaduct crouching in the mud gremlin-style to inspect some mushrooms, at Maenporth beach having a swim with their friends, or at home reading a good book. Max will always have a sketchbook on hand, and they love to dance around the kitchen like a lunatic.
Supporting Max as Vice President Falmouth is Lottie (she/her). Lottie studied Creative Writing and has previously worked as SU Crew and a student rep, so they know how to communicate with students and run fun events! As VP Falmouth, Lottie represents all Falmouth University students with a specific focus on students studying on Falmouth campus.
When Lottie isn’t in the SU, you’ll find her exploring the pubs and beaches of Cornwall, reading a good book or trying out a new form of exercise!
Whether you’ve got an idea to improve your university experience, need support with an academic issue, or simply want to say hello, Max and Lottie are here to represent you. Keep an eye out for them around campus, at SU events and on social media throughout the year – they’re always happy to chat.
