On the evening of 1st May, students and staff from across the University of Exeter gathered in the Great Hall, Streatham Campus to celebrate academic and professional staff who have demonstrated exceptional teaching, research or support to the students of Exeter, in the 2018 Teaching Awards! The Awards are an annual shared event between Exeter’s two Students’ Unions, FXU and The Guild, and are completely student-led, from nominations to presenting. This year saw a record of over 1300 nominations, across 14 categories from, Research Inspired Teaching to Best Employability Support. Nominations went through a number of student-led shortlisting rounds which culminated in the Super Panel meeting in April. 17 Cornwall based staff made it onto the final shortlists, up from just four last year, itself a huge achievement given the high number of outstanding nominations that were received. On the night, Prof. Catherine Leyshon won Most Innovative Teaching and Calum Beeson won Most Supportive Member of Staff. Renewable Energy Engineering triumphed in the Best Subject in Cornwall category. The full list of winners can be found here and a photo gallery of the event can be seen here.

FXU extends huge thanks to every single student who took the time to submit a nomination, to the amazing staff of Exeter for providing such an exceptional experience to their students, and finally to our sister union, The Guild, for working so hard on putting on such a great show!
