Details

This role is an exciting opportunity to join our Engagement team on a fixed-term basis to cover a period of maternity leave. This role is all about empowering students to make decisions on what their union should work on using democracy and supporting their campaigns to make change happen on our campuses.

As the Democracy and Engagement Coordinator you will be responsible for supporting elected students with planning and delivering priority work throughout the academic year, developing a programme of activity to increase student engagement in union democracy, and collaborate with students and sabbatical officers to design and deliver successful campaigns.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent collaborator, a great communicator, and a champion in promoting equality, diversity and inclusivity in democracy and SU decision-making. You will need to be confident in approaching and working with students, helping them to take ownership of their suggestions. You are comfortable with administrative tasks like taking minutes of meetings and writing up documents. You are organised and set clear deadlines for yourself and others.

This post is a fixed-term position to cover a period maternity leave, working on a 0.6 FTE contract, which is 21 hours per week. This role will work on our campuses for all contracted hours during term time, working mainly from Penryn Campus with some time at Falmouth and Truro campuses. A working pattern of Tuesday – Thursday is preferred, but working hours and patterns will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate.
