About the event

Join MarineWatch and MARINElife at their training weekend to learn how to observe and identify whales, dolphins, and seabirds together with data recording methods used for scientific research.

Learn how to identify what can be seen from land and at sea around the UK. Become a Citizen Scientist, we’ll show you how to report your sightings for conservation or consider becoming a MARINElife volunteer ship-based surveyor in your spare time! This is a certified course and you will receive a completion certificate after the event. Great for your CV!

This will be a 2-day event. The Saturday will involve a comprehensive classroom session delivered by MARINElife, learning about ID techniques, cetacean behaviour and identification tips. The Sunday will involve a guided boat trip with AK Wildlife Safaris to test your ID skills and hopefully see some whales, dolphins and seabirds!

Location and times: DM Seminar K, 9:00-17:00 on the 3rd of October for the training, and the 4th of October at Falmouth Marina for the boat trip (time will be confirmed closer to the event).

Price for full weekend (including certified training from a respected charity and a 2-hour wildlife Boat Trip) = £40
