What is a Forum Facilitator?

Facilitators of Student Forum lead the space where real student issues get heard and turned into action. They plan the agenda, facilitate conversations, and help make Forum and Collectives a space that’s inclusive, engaging, and meaningful.

We're looking for two Forum Facilitators to co-lead this year’s Student Forum — an open space where students come together to debate ideas, set Union priorities, and hold officers to account. As a Facilitator, you’ll help plan Forum meetings, guide inclusive discussions, and make sure student voices are heard and respected.

You don’t need to be an expert in politics or have loads of experience. If you care about your community, enjoy bringing people together, and want to build skills in leadership, public speaking, or teamwork — this could be for you.

Apply to Be a Forum Facilitator

  • Do you believe students should have a say in shaping their university experience?
  • Do you care about creating spaces where everyone feels welcome and heard?
  • Are you passionate about helping others turn their ideas into real change?
  • Do you enjoy working as part of a team and sharing responsibility?
  • Are you open to learning on the job, with support along the way?

What's in it for me?

The role is voluntary with low/medium commitment (~4 hours/month) and fully supported by SU staff and officers. Plus, you’ll get:

  • Free meal on Forum days, training days, and informal team building
  • Training and development
  • A certificate and reference from the SU
  • A chance to meet brilliant students and shape your university experience

If you know someone else who is applying and want to be considered as a team, please enter their details on your application form. This will be taken into consideration but does not guarantee you will both be successful. We’ll match you with a co-facilitator based on shared values and strengths.

Applications are open (on a rolling basis) until Friday 26th September.

(This means you can apply at any point during the academic year. If the positions have already been filled, your application would be considered if a Facilitator steps down or for the next Forum team in the following academic year.)

We recommend applying as early as you can — the sooner you’re in, the more time you’ll have to shape the first Forum in October!
