Street Art Society (FXUSAS)

We do exactly what it says on the can, we do all things of to do with graffiti culture primarily using spray paint to create public art.

Street art is generally a form of unofficial and independent visual art created in public locations for public visibility. Street art has received artistic recognition with the high-profile status of Banksy and other artists.

Where it can be dismissed as graffiti and vandalism, The Street Art movement has become increasingly popular and has evolved from traditional graffiti art moving to new modes of art where artists use urban space as an opportunity to display personal artwork. Many artists want to make statements about the society they live in and raise awareness of social and political issues. Others are just about bringing beauty and interest to urban areas for a public audience. A common motive is that creating art which utilises public space allows artists to reach a much broader audience than other styles or galleries would allow.

The variety of media used by street artists has also evolved. From only using spray paint by traditional graffiti artists to a greater and greater variety of other medium including, mosaic tiling, stencil and sticker artreverse graffiti, "Lock On" sculptures, wheatpasting, woodblocking, yarn bombing, and rock balancing. Any medium you wiah to try we'll give it a go!

The SAS are constantly in contact with the local community arranging the installment of public art in nearby towns and villages.
