Finding a quiet space to focus can make a huge difference — whether you’re preparing for exams, working on a big project, or just need some headspace to get things done. That’s why we’ve been looking into how we can improve single study spaces across campus.
Here’s what’s currently in the works:
-
Higher dividers in the library: We’re exploring ways to make library study pods feel more private and distraction-free.
-
Reviewing quiet areas: Aisha and Jadelle are taking a closer look at the quiet zones in Launchpad and the AIR building to see what’s working and what could be improved.
-
Bookable rooms for students: Aisha and Avery are asking if Exchange Courtyard rooms can be made bookable for individual study.
-
Accessible spaces for students with ILPs: Jadelle (for Falmouth) and Izzy (for Exeter) are working to ensure students with ILPs can book study rooms like those in DM and PL.
-
Silent study seminar rooms: We’re exploring the idea of using seminar rooms as additional silent study spaces during busy times.
-
Ear defenders in the library: Aisha is encouraging FXPlus to expand their ear defender supply — and possibly bring in new providers — to support students who need low-sensory spaces.
-
Study space map: Jadelle and Izzy are creating a map to help students easily find suitable study spots around campus.
-
Using Tremough House rooms: Avery and Izzy are looking into whether rooms or annex offices in Tremough House could be opened up for student use.
We’ll be reviewing progress on Wednesday to see what’s already been done and what needs to happen next.
Your feedback is really important — if you’ve got ideas about how we can make study spaces better, let us know!
