Meet your rep - Daniel Dearling

Welcome to the School of Architecture, Design & Interiors (SADI) at Falmouth University!
It is my pleasure to introduce myself as your department representative, and to share with you the important role I play in supporting our community. My name is Daniel Dearling, and I am currently in my second year studying architecture. I am honoured to represent the students of our school, and I am deeply committed to ensuring that your time here is both fulfilling and inspiring.
The School of Architecture, Design and Interiors is a dynamic and exciting place to study, filled with opportunities to learn, experiment, and innovate. I want to make sure you feel confident in sharing your feedback and ideas, and that together we continue to shape the future of our courses and the great community here at our wonderful university.

I became department rep as I am dedicated to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and creative environment across our closely linked courses. I see my role as a bridge between students and staff listening to your experiences, raising concerns, and celebrating achievements.  I work closely with faculty members and fellow students to make sure your voices are heard and acted upon, whether it’s about teaching, facilities, or the overall student experience. My priority is not only to address challenges as they arise but also to encourage initiatives that make your time here more enriching, whether academically, socially, or creatively. I strongly believe that open communication and collaboration are key to creating positive change.

Outside of my responsibilities as department rep, I am passionate about all aspects of design, sustainability, conservation and innovation with a particular interest towards Cornish Architecture. You will quite often find me in the studio working away on my drawings or in the library hunting through the multitude of journals and books for inspiration. On the rarer occasions I am out of the studio, I  like to sketch, visit exhibitions and seek out great food! Additionally, I have the privilege of being Cornish and I love exploring Cornwall's unique landscapes, history and (of course) architecture.
If there is one tip I have for you while you are here at Falmouth, it's make the most of this amazing opportunity! Falmouth is an wonderful place with so much to do, so much to see and loads to explore! If its Academic, Social or anything in-between, there is a wealth of experiences for you to take part in.

I look forward to meeting and working with each of you, supporting your journey, and ensuring that your voice has an impact. Please don't hesitate to reach out; whether you have concerns, suggestions, or simply want to share your experiences. Together, we can continue to build a strong, collaborative, and inspiring community that empowers every student to reach their full potential.
