Joint statement from The SU and Exeter Guild on medical students' future membership

We’ve been working hard to solve your specific issues around your experiences when you move between St Luke’s and Truro. We’re happy to announce that we’ve come up with some actions to help ease this transition working in collaboration as your Students’ Unions.

We’ve been working hard to solve your specific issues around your experiences when you move between St Luke’s and Truro. We’re happy to announce that we’ve come up with some actions to help ease this transition working in collaboration as your Students’ Unions. These developments and more will form a longer-term plan on how both organisations will support you and help ensure that you have the best experience possible whilst at the University of Exeter, no matter what campus you’re on!

In the meantime, there will be some targeted transition work including creating bespoke inductions and enabling access to the full range of opportunities both the SU and Students’ Guild have available wherever you are. To kickstart this transition, we’re implementing some positive changes to allow you access to become part of society committees next academic year.

For students transferring to Truro: If you would like to stand for an SU medical society committee, you can now do this by joining as an associate member and nominating yourself. If you would like to stand for the committee of a non-medical society, please email studentopps@thesu.org.uk and we can sort this for you.

For students transferring to Exeter: If you would like to nominate yourself for any Guild society committee, you can now do this by joining the society on the Guild website as an “Associate Member” and then nominating yourself in the committee election. You do not need to purchase an additional associate membership of the Guild to do this. If you are having trouble with this, or the society you wish to join does not offer an Associate Membership, please email activities@exeterguild.com.

We’re here for you and to make sure your interests and voices are at the heart of our decisions. Thank you for your patience and understanding whilst we ensure we get this right for you. We’ll be communicating more updates to you over the coming term.
