International Women’s Day is coming up on Sunday 8 March and the campaign theme for 2020 is #EachforEqual. The Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I) team are planning central activity with a focus on gender equality to celebrate, raise awareness and create impact as part of the University ED&I Vision 2025. We will be running roundtable events on both Streatham and Cornwall campuses on Friday 6 March to discuss the gender pay gap and cover the following:-
Ø sharing the research on the causes of and potential actions to tackle the gender pay gap;
Ø looking at the current actions in place to tackle the Gender Pay Gap;
Ø working collaboratively to identify potential new actions that will have a positive impact.
We recognise that the success of our events is wholly dependent on engagement with the wider University. With this in mind, we would be most grateful if you would consider the following to support this activity:
1. Nominate a colleague from your department/ college to attend the event and share the learnings with your teams. Sign up for the Exeter Event or Penryn event through Eventbrite!
2. Celebrate the day by showcasing inspiring women within our university community.
3. Use the event as an opportunity to think about barriers to success that those who identify as women may be facing within your department/team and ways in which these can be discussed and addressed.
Please contact the EDI team if you have any ideas, suggestions or themes that would like to see highlighted. If there are individuals within your department or teams who are interested in co-creating activity, please similarly encourage them to contact the EDI teamdirectly. We are looking forward to working together to further our progress on achieving gender equality as an institution.
