A large group of students are sitting on the SU sofas listening to VP Exeter, Avery, speaking at the May 2026 Student Forum.

Do you want to work with your SU Presidents to make change? Love talking to other students and getting to know different perspectives? Applications for next year’s Forum Facilitators are open, giving you the opportunity to develop employability skills such as organising meetings and people, arranging agendas, and preparing students to present their proposals.

Who we are looking for

We want students who want to create and contribute to a fair and open process that helps everyone understand what their students’ union is working on and the role that every student plays in moving projects forward (spoiler: students are the most important role at Forum). You’ll gain insight into how we promote Forum to students and the art of political communication, while inputting your ideas into how we develop union democracy in the future.

You will be a cheerleader for encouraging students to stand in their power, building communities to create change in your university experience. If you care about enriching discussions and removing barriers to participation for all students, this is the role for you.

The role

Forum is where students come together to discuss the issues that matter, vote for the Union Priorities, hear Officer updates and hold their representatives accountable. Forum is open to everyone – whether you care about buses, housing, mental health support, climate justice, or something totally new. It’s where your voice turns into action. Your role in Forum is to keep everyone interested in the conversation while keeping the meeting on track, a highly desirable skill for any future corporate career.

As a Facilitator of Student Forum, you’ll join the Executive Committee with other Forum Facilitators and your presidents and vice presidents. You’ll lead the meeting, facilitating inclusive and engaging discussions to help everyone feel heard and included in deciding on what the students’ union should try to change.

The role includes working closely with SU Sabbatical Officers to plan the agenda at Executive Committee meetings, promoting Forum through popups and social media content, and supporting with technology to ensure an effective hybrid meeting for online attendees. This is a team role – you’ll work closely with your fellow Facilitators, the SU Sabbatical Officers, and students to create a Forum that our members want to be part of.

How to apply

Applications are open on a rolling basis, with selection for the 2026-27 academic year closing on 25th September. You can read more about the role and how to apply here.
