MarineWatch is collaborating with our local marine group Falmouth Marine Conservation for a shorewatch at Pendennis Point, Falmouth. Join us on a land-based survey to try and record the marine wildlife we see, with a focus on dolphins, seals and whales. If you have your own binoculars please bring them along, but we will have some spares! Previous sightings from Pendennis include humpback whales, fin whales and lots of dolphins, but this is definitely not guaranteed :) ! The data goes towards a long-term dataset used by the Wildlife Trusts to better understand our marine mammal populations.
You are welcome to come along for however long you want, the event is from 11am-1pm. Feel free to come along later and just stay for a few minutes - it's a great opportunity to meet people involved in marine conservation locally. Best way to get the Pendennis is either walking from the Falmouth Docks train station or walking from the Top of Killigrew Street bus stop - it's a nice walk but will take longer!
Please dress warm as it can get windy!
