About the event

About the event

By participating in this workshop, you will:

  • Reflect on the value of the skills you have gained as part of your SU role from the perspective of employers
  • Reflect on whether you could add additional skills to your CV as a result of your role
  • Identify any additional skills you want to develop as part of your SU role OR in readiness for applying for jobs
  • Leave with a transferable skills matrix which will help you in your future job search, which you can keep and build upon in future

This workshop will enable students who participate in societies and who take up SU sabbatical and committee roles to enjoy some bespoke focus on the skills gained from participating which will help with your future employability.  We will spend some time recognising the transferrable skills you have gained already, plus identify skills you would like to develop further to enable your future aspirations, in your SU role and/or future career.

What is the key accessibility information?

What should I expect?

At this event it will be in a workshop format to enable small groups to have discussions together.  Guided by Falmouth and Exeter university careers staff, you will be encouraged to work in small, friendly and supportive groups.  You will be supporting other students to recognise their valuable, transferrable skills as well as endorsing and maybe recognising some more of your own.  If you prefer to work independently, this is also fine.

There will be two members of staff present to support the event and answer your questions. There may be photography and videography at this event that will be used for SU marketing, please speak to the member of staff if you don’t want your photo taken.

This event is only for students who have been actively engaged in an SU committee or who are undertaking an SU sabbatical role at Falmouth University and the University of Exeter Cornwall Campus.

If you need a quiet space to get away from the event, the nearest space would be the Students’ Union
