About the event
Come along to Hello Cornwall – our relaxed and friendly welcome event designed especially for international students. This is your chance to settle in, make new friends, and get a feel for Cornish life. There’ll be delicious Cornish pasties (with veggie, vegan, and gluten-free options), soft drinks and snacks, chilled music, cosy lighting, and plenty of conversation starters to help break the ice.
Try out some fun board games, mark your hometown on our giant “Where in the World?” map, and take a snap photo for our photo wall to capture your first night in Cornwall. Whether you're chatty or shy, this event is all about making early connections in a warm and welcoming space.
You do not need a ticket for this event but purchasing a ticket (FREE) guarantees you will get a Pasty.

What should I expect?
At this event, you can expect a calm and friendly atmosphere designed to help you settle in and connect with others. There will be soft background music, warm lighting (think fairy lights), and spaces to sit and chat, as well as light games and conversation cards to help spark new friendships.
You’re welcome to take part in as much or as little as you feel comfortable with—whether that’s chatting over a Cornish pasty, joining a group game, or simply relaxing and observing. There may be moments of light noise and movement as people arrive and mingle, but we aim to keep things low-pressure and inclusive.
A member of SU staff and student crew will be present throughout the event to support you and answer any questions. We’ll also have photography at the event for SU marketing—please just let a crew member know if you prefer not to be photographed.
This event is for students of Falmouth University and the University of Exeter Cornwall Campus.
If at any point you need a quiet space, side rooms within the SU will be available to step away and take a break.
