We are Falmouth and Penryn's Award Winning Student Radio Station! Surf Radio is broadcasting to soundtrack your day wherever you are, on campus, at home, on the bus - if you have an internet connection, we've got you covered!

What does membership get you?

Buying a membership gives you access to our Penryn Campus studio and everything you need to start hosting your own radio show. Shows can include Standard Music shows (our music, your commentary), Speciality Music shows (your music and commentary), Talk Shows, Podcasts, Radioplays/Dramas, News Shows, Sports Shows and more! If you're passionate about it, we'll help you get it on air!

There are also opportunities to get involved with:

Exciting behind-the-scenes roles like producing shows, and helping plan events and live broadcasts
Covering big events happening on campus and locally
Promoting new artists and discovering new music
Learning more about the radio industry and discovering how everything works

Membership of Surf Radio comes with membership of the Student Radio Association (SRA), which means you can:

Attend Regional Training Days and the National SRA Conference featuring talks from people all across the Radio Industry to help you take your show to the next level! Last year, speakers included Ricky Wilson (Kaiser Chiefs, Virgin Radio), and Ali Plumb (BBC Radio 1)!
Enter the prestigious Student Radio Awards, a place that has started so many careers in radio!
Enter the Amplify Awards, a big night at the SRA Con where you can attend a meal with some of the big names in radio! Last year, the awards were presented by Katrina Ridley and Rob Howard (Heart)!
The chance to host "The Student Radio Chart Show" which is supported by BBC Introducing and broadcasts across every SRA Student Radio station in the UK!
Get interview opportunities with some of the most exciting new artists and some big names in music through the Student Music Network!

Getting on the radio:

Our schedule hosts a mix of live and pre-recorded shows. You can apply for a show by filling out our application form here!

Inductions:

To book an induction for the Surf Radio Studio email us at fxuradiosociety@gmail.com and make sure you put “Surf Radio Induction” as the subject!

Inductions usually take no more than 30 mins and will take place at a time that suits you.

The induction will include a tutorial on:

How to use the mixing desk and microphone technique
How to use the software RadioDJ and B.U.T.T
How to correctly record / stream your show
Proper file management
Health and Safety
A recap of our onair code of conduct and program material guidelines.
