Renewable Energy Society

Welcome to the Renewable Energy Society! ⚡

We're relaunching the Renewable Energy Society (RES) for 2026/27 with a new committee, bringing together students interested in renewable energy, engineering and the wider energy sector.

Our aim is to build an active, student-led community where people from different courses and year groups can meet, share ideas, develop practical skills and explore opportunities outside their degrees.

What We're Planning

• Projects & Workshops: Practical sessions covering renewable energy, coding, AI, energy modelling, data analysis and engineering challenges, alongside opportunities to get involved in student-led projects.

• Industry & Careers: Guest speakers, networking, site visits and opportunities to connect with academics, alumni and professionals working across the energy sector.

• Community & Socials: A mix of socials, sport, trips and other activities to bring students together outside their studies.

We're also developing a campus energy data dashboard, supported by £500 from the Boyden Innovation Awards, with opportunities for members to get involved as the project progresses.

Upcoming Events

We're currently planning our first events for mid-November, after reading week:

• 🌬️ Wind farm walk

• 🎓 Talks with Year in Industry students about their placement experiences

We're also aiming to run workshops and project sessions on Wednesday afternoons in the RE Lab.

Get Involved

RES is open to students from any course or year group with an interest in renewable energy and the wider energy sector. No previous technical experience is needed.

As we're relaunching the society this year, we'd also like members to have a say in the activities and projects we organise.

Join RES through The SU and join our WhatsApp community for upcoming events, announcements and discussions.
