Bee Soc

BeeSoc is the place to bee if you're a fan of our fuzzy little pollinator friends! You need no particular knowledge or beekeeping experience to join- just a love for bees!

BeeSoc is the place to bee if you're a fan of our fuzzy little pollinator friends! You need no particular knowledge or beekeeping experience to join- just a love for bees!

We work closely with our local beekeeper to maintain our own hives which we regularly take members to view, showing them how to perfom basic checks (such as looking for chalkbrood and varroa mites). You will be able to get involved in taking out frames, cleaning hive equipment, and extracting honey at the end of the year!

We also know that while a lot of people love bees, some people don't want to get too close to them. We want everyone to be able to appreciate our fuzzy little friends so that's why we try to hold some events that are more educational or creative, such as ID talks and making bee-coloured pom poms!

We also try to get involved as much as possible with external and Campus organisations, such as the Bumblebee Trust and volunteering opportunities on campus
