With politics becoming ever-more controversial, the Progressive Society provides a space for ideas and opinions to be discussed, debated and explored in an open and friendly environment.

At the core of the Progressive Society, we stand for centrist to left-wing ideals based in the values of democracy, freedom of speech, a strong welfare state, a clean planet and opportunity for all.

At the Progressive Society we choose kindess over hatred, hope over fear and equality over division.

We welcome students of both Exeter and Falmouth Universities. Anyone can join regardless of their political involvement or experience. Our events will include discussions, debates, guest speeches, and socials as we seek to explore progressive politics.

Upcoming events

Intro Session: 16th September; Exchange Courtyard 5; Come along to meet the committee, learn about our plans for the year and get a taster of some of the activities we run throughout the year. This is a free a event so come along with you friends, housemates or coursemates - See you there!

PMQs: 18th September; Exchange Courtyard 4; Join us for a mock Prime Minister's Questions! Take your place as the government, opposition or on the back benches to debate a variety of political issues in a parliamentary setting. No previous debating experience required so everyone is welcome!

Global Debate Night: 25th September; Exchange Courtyard 4; Join us for a mock Model United Nations style debate and discussion! No previous experience of MUN required, just come along and see the scenarios we've got planned. Feel free to bring your friends and solve major global issues together!

We meet every Tuesday starting from the 23rd of September in the Exchange Courtyard Room 5 from 18:30 until 20:30. Follow us on Instagram @fxuprogressivesociety to keep up to date and look out for events!
