Bottle Match

Running since 1902, the annual Bottle Match weekend is the second oldest rugby varsity in the world and sees our CSM sports teams play against Royal School of Mines from Imperial College in London.

The second oldest rugby varsity in the world

The Bottle Match is an annual varsity sport event between Camborne School of Mines and The Royal School of Mines. The two schools meet every year in February to battle it out on the pitch for the honour of lifting the huge, black, metal bottle.

Bottle Match started with the rugby match and over the years has seen the addition of football, hockey, lacrosse, netball, badminton and squash.

Since 1902, the varsity has been hosted in Cornwall or London, alternating each year. This year's Bottle Match is at home and CSM would appreciate your support.
