FXU Summer Ball 2018


1) Tickets

All existing FXU students will be able to buy up to two tickets each (subject to availability). The event is not open to the public. 

Summer Ball tickets will go on sale at 12 noon on Monday 30thApril and can be purchased from the FXU website (subject to availability). 

Ticket options are:

  • £37 for Graduating Students for the event 3pm – late (includes the 3-6pm Graduation Party which is exclusively for graduating students and their guests).


  • £32 for all students for the event commencing 6pm – late. 


Any graduating students that does not wish to join the 3-6pm Grad party can purchase a standard (all student) ticket for 6pm to late event.

You will need to collect your wristbands and entry pack from the FXU Office during office hours between Tuesday 29thMay - Friday 1stJune 2018. The student who purchased the ticket/s must collect the wristband/entry pack – please bring your student ID card with you when collecting.


2) Refunds

Tickets are non-refundable and we cannot offer replacements for lost tickets/wristbands. The selling on of tickets is not permitted.


3) Can I bring a guest?

Yes, you can bring up to one guest and they can be either a student or non-student. They must be in possession of a Summer Ball wristband and with you on entry.


4) Do I need ID?

You (and your guest if you’re bringing one) must be at least 18 years old to attend the Summer Ball. You will need to be able to prove your age with either a PASS approved ID card, driving licence, passport or Student ID at the event. If you are unable to prove your age we can deny you access to the event.


5) Could there be changes to the line-up and event?

It is sometimes unavoidable that across the multiple stages there can be changes to artistes performing and/or their performance times. We will endeavour to keep you up to date with any changes (we have a Summer Ball Facebook Event). A change of line-up is not grounds for a refund for the event.


FXU reserves the right to change any elements of the event if required. 


6) Do I need cash at the event? 

Yes. Some bars or food stalls take card payments, but we cannot guarantee that all will and there is also no cash machine facility within the event.


7) Accessibility of venues

The Summer Ball is an event that takes place on Penryn Campus. The event has both inside and outside areas and some could be relatively dark after sunset. During the event there will be loud music and flashing lights. Accessible toilets are available. If you have an enabler (carer) to assist you we will allow them free access with you (please let us know if advance). We recognise that Penryn campus is on a hill with steps in some areas and we are accounting for this. Please let us know if you have any specific accessibility requirements or questions.


8) Can I bring alcohol to the event?

You cannot bring alcohol to the event and also no containers containing liquid. The only exception is sealed (never opened) soft drinks that contain water (or glucose drinks if you are diabetic).


9) Do you search for illegal drugs? 

Yes we do. We work in partnership with Devon and Cornwall Police and our security team to carry out searches. Possession of illegal drugs will lead to you been turned away from the event, the illegal drugs being turned over to the Police, and you being handed over to the Police.


10) How do I get to the Summer Ball? 

There will be limited parking on campus therefore we recommend you travel to the event by bus, taxi services or other. 


11) Personal Data

In purchasing a ticket from FXU, you give us permission to use your personal data for the purpose of administering this event effectively and in accordance with our data sharing and data protection policies  click here for details. You also give FXU permission to use photography and video from the event, in which you may feature, for marketing purposes.


12) Right to refuse admission

The venue reserves the right to withdraw its invitation for anyone to be on its premises at any time. In particular we reserve the right to refuse entry to, or to remove from, the venue any persons who are drunk or disorderly or whose conduct is unlawful or offensive, who refuses a request for a search, is found or suspected of possessing illegal drugs, alcohol or weapons or who is not entitled to attend the event.  Any person who causes a disturbance or who refuses to comply with reasonable requests from venue management may be removed from the venue. The venue will not refund the cost of entry or ticket such cases.


13) What happens if i lose my wristband?

Lost wristbands cannot be replaced, so if the wristband breaks or comes off, you should NOT THROW IT AWAY – bring it back to us for a new one. If you do not give us your broken/faulty wristband we can't give you a replacement. 


14)  Who do I ask if I have any questions?

If you have any questions, please email the FXU team at  info@fxu.org.uk by 3pm, 1stJune. Please do not rely on using Facebook and we will not be able to respond to any messages on the day of the event, as we will be out of the office – preparing for your party of the year!


15) Wristband Collection

Both Students and Guests HAVE to be over 18. NO UNDER 18’s can come to the event.

Guests should bring age ID when collecting the wristband. When picking up a wristband the Student who purchased it will need to bring their guest with them, who will have a wristband attached to their wrist at the same time.

If the guest cannot come to campus between Tue 29th May - Fri 1st June during FXU Office hours, both the student and the guest can pick up their wristbands on the gate on the day of the event.
