FXU Elections & Democracy Committee


The FXU Elections & Democracy Committee oversees the planning and execution of FXU elections, as well as reviewing FXU political policy. Membership is for 12 months or an academic year and the committee meet no less than twice a year, fortnightly in term 2. All decisions are made by simple majority vote with the Chairperson reporting regularly to the FXU Leadership Team on budget and participation (candidates, voters, attendees at referendum debates etc.).

FXU Elections & Democracy Committee Roles:

  • FXU Student Voice Chairperson
  • FXU Presidents
  • 2 Executive Officers
  • Senior returning Officer - Appointed by Elections & democracy committee & agreed by FXU board – may be an NUS rep, member of institutional staff, FXU Chief Exec or member of Elections & democracy committee
  • Deputy Returning Officer - Director of Student Voice (must be included in ballot for every decision concerning elections)

Note: No member of the Elections & Democracy Committee can stand in FXU elections or participate in an FXU elections campaign team
