SU Committees

The SU has a number of committees and councils that make sure that what we do supports and represents our students. If you would like to get involved with any of them you can read more below, email studentvoiceteam@thesu.org.uk, or drop into the SU office for a chat with the Student Voice Team.

The SU Board of Trustees oversees the SU's business and ensures we comply with Charity Commission rules and the law. You can read more about the Board here.

The SU Elections & Democracy Committee makes sure that SU Elections are run fairly.

 

The SU Student Council represents you (the students at Falmouth University and the University of Exeter Cornwall Campuses). Student Council team is there to listen to you and speak on your behalf to the University and other institutional bodies. You can read more about the Student Council here.

 

Liberation Committee

The Liberation Committee is here to work towards the equality of all students on campus, including representing marginalised / under-represented groups. It is chaired by Riley Dunk the SU Liberation Chair. The current officers are:

The SU Green Council is a group of students who are really interested in campus sustainability and want to help to lobby the universities and drive behavioural change across our campuses. It's chaired by Ellen Monaghan who is our Environment and Ethics Chair. The current officers are:

Now that both universities have declared a climate emergency, it's more important than ever that our student representation for sustainability is working well and applying pressure to FXPlus and the universities to make sure change happens.

The Sports Council exists to help improve our SU affiliated sports clubs. From engaging with sports clubs, to working with SU staff to support student opportunities, to providing more unity amongst our sports clubs these roles exist to improve student-led sport. Members of the Council work with the SU Sports Chair and the President Student Experience.

The Societies Council exists to help improve our SU affiliated societies. From engaging with the societies you represent, to working with SU staff to support student opportunities, to providing more unity amongst our societies these roles exist to improve our student-led societies. Members of the Council work with the SU Societies Chair and the President Student Experience. The current Societies Chair is Albert Duker

Volunteering and RAD Committee

Volunteering and RAD Committee: This committee considers all proposals for new student-led volunteering projects, review funding allocations for SLVPs and aid the Volunteering Officer and RAD Officer to complete their manifesto.

 

Subject Chair Working Group Committee

Exeter Subject Chairs share best practice and oversee the effective running of Student Staff Liaison Committee’s (SSLCs) ensuring feedback is acted upon or escalated to the SU Leadership Team as required.

 

Department Rep Working Group Committee

Falmouth Department Reps share best practice and oversee the effective running of Student Staff Liaison Group’s (SSLGs) ensuring feedback is acted upon or escalated to the SU Leadership Team as required.

If you think that there needs to be a new committee, get in touch with studentvoiceteam@thesu.org.uk SU committees are recommended to have a maximum of 12 members and exist to organise, act on and take responsibility for their area of work.
