UGM - Union General Meeting

(UGM) Union General Meeting is a meeting, held once termly, open to all students. Trustees may also call an extra General Meeting at any time if they are requested to by at least 2.5% of the student body.

#Who attends?

Any University of Exeter Cornwall Campus (UECC) or Falmouth University student is encouraged to attend, as well as SU elected representatives. Normally the Student Voice Chairperson will chair the meeting. At least 50 students need to be present in order to vote on issues affecting students.

What does it do?

The UGM is a meeting which shares information and updates between the students and the elected representatives, as well as ensuring that these elected reps remain accountable to the students. All SU Presidents are required to give an update on their projects, and any progress made.

Any student studying at Falmouth or Penryn campus can:

  • Suggest agenda points
  • Propose a Motion
  • Ask open questions of their elected representatives

AGM - Annual General Meeting

(AGM) Annual General Meeting is an annual meeting open to all students. It must be held once a year, although one of these may be a Union General Meeting.

Who attends?

Any University of Exeter or Falmouth University student studying on any campus in Cornwall is encouraged to attend, as well as SU elected representatives. Normally the Student Voice Chair will chair the meeting. At least 50 students need to be present in order to vote on issues affecting students.

What does it do?

The AGM has a similar purpose to a UGM, in that it shares information and updates between the students and the Union. However, more than this, it also ensures that the whole of SU is remaining accountable to the students.

  • SU Trustees report on the Union's activities
  • A decision will be made on which organisations the Students Union affiliates with  - e.g. National Union of Students (NUS)
  • An update on SU finance, including how much money SU has received and spent
  • All Presidents are required to update on their projects
  • Any motions will be put to a vote

Any student studying at Falmouth or Penryn campus can:

  • Suggest agenda points
  • Propose a Motion
  • Ask open questions of their elected representatives
