FESTAXI is a small organisation which offers opportunities for volunteers to get to festivals for free in exchange for doing some fun work at the festival. We are always looking for fun, enthusiastic and trustworthy people to join our growing team of volunteers. The service we provide at festivals is onsite transport for festival guests and VIPs - including artists – using golf buggies.

Last year we provided services at a number of well-known events, as well as some smaller events:

  • Plymouth VolksFest
  •  Hop Farm Festival
  •  Latitude
  •  Cockermouth Rock Festival
  •  Camp Bestival
  •  Strawberry Fields Festival
  •  Bestival

2014 will include some of the above as well as the addition of some new exciting events to our calendar.

There have even been some well-known names on ourbuggies: Joseph Mount and Anna Prior from Metronomy, Huey and Stevie B from Fun Lovin' Criminals, Kai Stephens from Hard-Fi, Zoe Ball, Bobby Davro, Charlie Brooks from Eastenders, Rob da Bank, Nikki from Big Brother, The Subways and Mr Motivator (and these are just some of the people we know about).

A number of roles are available throughout the summer months, all over the country. These range from being a golf buggy driver (driving licence required), assisting with customers and also Supervisor positions (driving licence preferred).

To drive golf buggies you must:

  • hold a full and clean UK driving license
  • be comfortable handling cash
  • be confident driving in a busy environment

To marshall taxi stops you must:

  • be able to manage festival-goers who are queuing
  • be able to assist with promotion of the service
  • be able to communicate requests clearly to drivers

To assist in the control room you must

  • be able to communicate clearly on the radio
  • organise taxi team volunteers as they change shifts
  • be friendly and have excellent customer service skills

All volunteers need to complete a mandatory training session on the morning/afternoon before the festival begins and need to be available to carry out an average of four six-hour shifts throughout the duration of the event. The volunteers will also need to make arrangements to get to the festival, although we try to assist where possible, and help point them in the direction of lift shares and affordable transport.
