FXU Athletics Club is a Track & Field, Cross Country and social running club, which is open to athletes of all levels of experience, ability, and disciplines.
Our Athletics Club is made up of FXU Athletics (open to all disciplines and experiences), and FX Run (open to all, but with a focus on beginners in running).
We train 3 times a week: 2 times at Carn Brea Athletics Track in Redruth, with coaches from Cornwall Athletics Club, and 1 indoor circuit session in the sports hall. We attend competitions all around the year, including the BUCS Indoor, Outdoor, Cross Country Championships and two Varsity Competitions. Our club is a great place to increase your fitness levels, get in shape and make good friends. We won Sports Club of the Year 2017/18 and Most Improved Sports Club of the Year 2017/2018. We have had a very successful first four years, having acheived a BUCS Medal already, so we are hoping this year will be even bigger and better!
However, we are not solely about competition; if you prefer to go on relaxed, non-competitive social runs - we accomodate that too! Meeting twice weekly (Wednesdays and Sundays) at Glasney Lodge for 5km and 10km runs at a casual pace, we can show you the very best routes around Falmouth, Penryn and the surrounding area. We also travel to local park runs relatively often which are a great way to discover runs further afield, or get that new 5km PB! Due to current Coronavirus guidelines, FXU Athletics advise against all but essential shared travel. Therefore all training is taking place from Campus, and circuit training has been moved online. Please ensure you have completed our COVID-19 Compliance Form (Which can be found on our Facebook page or by emailing us) and returned it to us by email prior to taking part in any face to face activities with us.
