welcome to Jazz and Lyrical Dance society !!
classes
weekly classes focusing on dance technique, flexibility, and rehearsing for our annual Showcase (which happens in March). we have a positive, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere and our classes are accommodating for both beginners and advanced dancers. our classes are jazz/modern style dance, but we also do contemporary/lyrical style dance in our performance team (see below) !!
location: upstairs studio, sports hall (Penryn Campus Flexi Fitness Centre)
time: Fridays 20:00 - 21:00 and 21:00 - 22:00
taught by: student-led
capacity: 10 dancers per class, please only book one of the hour class slots per fortnight so everyone gets a chance to dance
performance/competition team
both jazz and ballet MEMBERS are welcome to join our performance team, where we rehease student-led choreography in contemporary/lyrical style dance, and also learn a showgirl routine to perform in the March Showcase !! we also hope to take this team to a competition in the second term !! you MUST be a member of either society to come along to these classes. performance team rehearsals will begin in January.

£5 annual standard membership
£10 annual associate membership
class fees: £1 per class (pay when you purchase a ticket on the SU website) - this year you cannot pay for classes in bulk due to the fortnightly system

showcase
In March each year we run a Showcase, involving all the musical, dance and performance societies on campus. it is THE highlight of our year as a society !! some clips from it can be watched on our instagram page, and the welcome week website page. other dance societies we collaberate with that you might be interested to joing are: TapJam, Ballet, Hip Hop, Ballroom and Latin or Fusion Cheerleading. This year we will likely replace the showcase with an outdoor filmed performance.
