Surf Radio, Falmouth and Penryn’s Student Radio Station, will be hosting the Student Radio Chart Show on the 28th March!
The show is run by the Student Radio Association and supported by BBC Introducing. Hosted by a different student station each week, the chart show counts down the top 20 tracks in Student Radio featuring interviews with some of the biggest new artists and a BBC Introducing 'pick of the week' from the local team in the South West.
Tom Jackson, the Station Manager at Surf Radio, said: “I’m so excited that the Chart Show is coming to Surf Radio! It’s our first-time hosting so we want to make it one to remember… there might be a few surprises in store for the people listening!”
As part of the show, the Surf Radio team will be hosting a takeover on the Student Radio Association Instagram account where the audience can interact with the show as it happens.
The team involved will get a masterclass with our local BBC Music Introducing team in the South West to help prepare them. Hosting the chart show enables eligibility to enter the "Best Chart Show" category at the annual Student Radio Awards later in the year. 2020 "best chart" winners Alex West and Numi Gildert from University Radio York went on to cover the Official Chart on BBC Radio One as part of the Christmas Presenter Search and are set to return the Radio One to present “Friday Early Breakfast” in August, so this is no small opportunity!
