How easy is it to Vote in the SU Elections?

Lauren took over our instagram account to give you an insight into how easy it is to vote in the SU elections, and why it's so important. 5 minutes to have an impact on the future of the SU? Count us in! Have a read of what she said below, and don't forget to vote.

“Hi everyone, I’m Lauren.

I’m a second year English and History student at Exeter, and I’m the English Subject Chair, Fundraising Officer on the SU Council, and I’m also on the committee for English Society and Penryn Press. So I like to get involved with everything at University, which is why I am here.

I’d like to chat to you about the ease of access in voting in the SU President Elections and why it is so important that you use your voice.

Firstly, it is so much easier to vote in the SU election than it is in the general elections. You can vote from the comfort of your own home without needing to go to the polling station or a postbox. You don’t even have to leave your bed to cast a vote in the President elections. This makes it easier for all of us and is especially preferred in the current climate.

Despite how easy it is to vote in the SU elections, you’re still showing your love for democracy, proving that you are engaged with the SU and the ‘behind the scenes’ of the Universities.

These are the people who are going to be representing you next year, so why wouldn’t you want to have a say on that?

If reading through the manifestos on the SU website seems like a bit of a bore to you… the candidates are using Instagram, Facebook and TikTok to campaign. So you can have a look at this more engaging content, but they are still getting their point across! It’s very, very important to see what they want to offer you next year, and see how they want to help you.

Literally taking 5 minutes out of your day to cast your vote will help determine what the SU will be like next year, so head to www.thesu.org.uk/presidentelections2021 and vote!”
