Q1) Why the rebrand?
The purpose of our rebrand is to have a clearer brand identity as a students’ union and to create a unified brand experience and sense of belonging for our students and stakeholders from both Falmouth University and The University of Exeter in Cornwall.
Q2) How long will the rebrand take?
We will be rebranding over the summer but we aim to have all our new branding in place across campus, social media and on our website by the start of the academic year (September 2019).
- 21 Aug 2019 - Emails and Website will change from @fxu.org.uk to @TheSU.org.uk
- 21 Aug 2019 - Social Media pages will change to @TheSUFalExe for our main Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.
- 30 Aug 2019 - Rebrand should be complete and we will now be known as Falmouth & Exeter Students' Union (The SU) and not FXU.
Q3) What happens if your sports club, society or group has FXU in its title?
We have advised that student groups replace their use of FXU in their club logo and comms with either Falmouth & Exeter Students’ Union, The Students’ Union or The SU.
Where possible, for competitions and official purposes, our groups will now be referred to as Falmouth & Exeter Students' Union rather than FXU.
Q4) How will the rebrand affect our sports kit?
Only new Falmouth & Exeter Students' Union kits will need to feature the new logo! If you have existing kit that says FXU on it, you can keep using this until you are due to renew.
If you are planning on ordering a new kit soon please contact the Activities Team for advice on design and logos.
We have requested that future sports kits feature Falmouth & Exeter Students’ Union extended logo as an official brand during competitions alongside any individual club logos.
Your SU Presidents' Sarah Redman and Joe Rigby are currently working on creating an official crest for Falmouth and Exeter Students’ Union student clubs which we will be launching in the near future (watch this page for updates).
Q5) I need a new version of the Logo?
The SU communications team are happy to help with any requests or questions about logos and branding, give them a call or drop them an email.
Q6) Where can I get a copy of the brand guidelines?
You can check out a digital copy of the brand guidelines below. Alternatively, you are welcome to pop into the office to see a print version if you prefer.
Q7) Who did the Rebrand?
The rebrand was a team effort. Our Communications Team did the rebrand in-house and our Graphic Design Intern, who graduated from Falmouth University, was the Graphic Designer for the project.
Q8) When will the web and email addresses change from FXU.org.uk to thesu.org.uk?
Our email and web addresses will change on 21 Aug 2019. When we make the change our new web address will be www.thesu.org.uk and our new email address will be e.g: email@example.com.
Don't worry though, in order to minimise any disruption, we will be putting redirects and other measures in place across our communication channels to make sure they are running as smoothly as possible throughout and after our rebrand process.
