Truro Digital Support Station
This digital support station is here as a resource for non-academic support services available to you during your time as a student at Truro Campus. These support services, and the lovely humans who provide them, are here for you whenever you may need them.
Your Truro Student Support Officer - Ruby Coleman

Hi, my name’s Ruby Coleman and I’m the Student Support Officer for all BMBS students based on Truro Campus! I support students with anything non-academic, so if there’s anything impacting or worrying you at the moment, please get in touch and we can arrange a Student Support Consultation. Your consultation enables you to have a chat about what’s been going on for you, consider the type of support you might find helpful, and together we can collaborate a support plan for you. When I’m not working, I really enjoy climbing/bouldering, but I’m afraid of heights, so I usually get stuck at the top and can’t get down!!! If you’d like to get in touch for an appointment, please email studentservices@fxplus.ac.uk ask for an appointment with me and pop in the subject line that you’re a Truro BMBS student.
Your Presidents
SU President Exeter
Hi, I’m Cara and my role covers your academic experience. I know the Truro experience and the medical programmes can be very different from those of our Penryn students, so I’m making sure I understand what those differences are and representing your voice in all the senior meetings I have.

SU President Welfare and Inclusivity
Hello, I’m Charlotte and my role does what it says on the tin; welfare and inclusivity! This covers accommodation, which I know is something that students in Truro have issues with. I’m working to improve this and get a proper centralised list of properties available with our Accommodation Service for all Cornwall based students. You can read more about the Presidents, their manifestos and the progress they’re making over on the SU President Pages

SU President Student Experience
I’m Amelia and my role covers student experience issues, including student opportunities, sustainability and campus facilities. Two key areas I’m working on for Truro students are the new Common Room facility and working with the Guild to make sure your rotations don’t impact on your ability to get involved in Clubs and Societies.

Key SU Contacts
Head of Advice Service
I have an ‘eye for detail’ and a sense of ‘fair play’ and its importance. Outside of work, I take photographs, play records and grow trees.

Student Advisor
I’m Jo & I’ve worked for the SU Advice Service as a general adviser for 5 years, in my previous life I was a debt adviser for Citizens Advice so have several years of experience advising which I really enjoy. I love cooking (& eating!) really tasty veggie food, being near the sea, walking and especially swimming. My biggest challenges have been completing the Camino de Santiago and sea swimming throughout the winter months which is a first this year – very cold but so exhilarating and I totally recommend it!

Truro Student Experience Project Lead
I have worked in the Students’ Union since 2014 and in Higher Education since 2001. My current role gives me a real focus on Truro and the experience students have here, so I’m really keen to connect with you all! In ‘normal’ times I love playing netball and took part in the BMBS staff v students match last year, which was really fun despite the score and I hope to be able to get a rematch played soon.
Hannah.Partington@thesu.org.uk
Societies Coordinator
Hello! I am Rosie, and I help to support over 100 societies across our 3 campuses, Penryn. Truro & Falmouth. It is great to see over the last year the increase in our Truro Societies, with now 14 based at Truro I have really seen a rise in the amount of opportunities and how committees have embraced the crazy times we find ourselves in, still offering so much virtually. We are always looking for new ways to help improve the student experience so if anyone has any ideas please get in touch. When I am not working and chasing after a small human we love to travel to new places and explore Cornwall with our four-legged friend.
