Eden Project Trip

Event Breakdown

The Eden Project trip was an opportunity (for all students) to attend the attraction at a more affordable cost than if they had organised tickets and transport independently.

Tickets were subsidised to either: £15 for travel standard entry, or £22 for travel, entry and ice skating – more than £10 off the normal price for a ticket into the Eden Project.

The trip was run because the student voice team at The SU want all students to be able to explore Cornwall and visit all that they can, without hesitating about the price; a key part of the process was ensuring that an affordable experience was provided. Cassy Hoare (International Student Experience intern) and Hannah Davies (then acting The SU Sports Officer) ran the trip, with 56 students in attendance.

The trip itself was designed to be as free and independent as possible, with students free to explore the Eden Project in the way that they wanted. The event sold out in a few hours, which was incredible: a similar trip to another Cornish attraction will hopefully follow very soon.

Impact

This trip, by improving accessibility in its provision of transport and implementation of discount, has provided a Cornish-focused, culturally enriching experience for the students involved which they may not have been able to access otherwise. An opportunity to get off-campus and engage with the cultural heritage around us in Cornwall, this was an amazing trip and an opportunity which the students involved really valued. Its success means that we are looking into other Cornish attractions to organise a trip to.
