Give it a go volunteering provides a range of one-off taster activities for you to try, and find out what you like to do, so come and get involved. If you really like an activity, you can set up a connection and return when you like. Alternatively, why not get a group together and set it up as Student-Led Volunteer Project! What's on this term...
Most activities are bookable by visiting FXU, and a view include free transport. Some of our event require a £5 deposit, which will be returned to you on the day of the event.

Penryn & Falmouth Memory Cafe - Activitiy sessions volunteering with people with Dementia
Looking for somewhere to volunteer in your local community which is a bit different and will stand out on your CV? Working with people dementia is hugely rewarding and valuable, and is so greatly appreciated by those experiencing the disease, as well as their carers.
Falmouth, Emmanuel Baptist Church - Every 1st & 3rd Tuesday of each month, 2-4pm.
Penryn, Temperance Hall - Every 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month, 2-4pm.

National Trust Coastal Zone Conservation - Date TBC
The Trelissick estate sits on the edge of the Fal Estuary and plays host to a range of habitats including large gardens, woodland and a small beach. You will be working with the National Trust rangers who will give you full training and equipment for your activities.
For this trip, you will have lots of marine clearance work to do, down at Trelissick Beach, clearing and repairing the sea wall that was breached in the recent storms.
National Trust Woodland Management - Date TBC
Based at Trelissick Gardens. For this trip, you will be working with the woodland team, learning about day to day woodland management. You be able to get involved in a range of activities and in the past we have undertaken planting, brush clearance, shelter and enclosure building, bonfires and fence laying/natural hedge work. There is always work to do and each visit will be slightly different.
Primate Sanctuary conservation - Date tbc
This project at Looe Monkey Sanctuary is a great combination of everything. The Sanctuary specialises in pet trade rescue and awareness raising. As a volunteer you will help to maintain the site, create enrichment activities and learn about a lot about animal behaviour. A £4 donation is require for this one which will fund sanctuary staff cover on the day.

Boot Up! - on-going throughout the year
If you would like to gain experience working with children, or in woodland/allotment management, Boot Up! is a local project, initiated by Falmouth University and now run independently. The site is a great outdoor playground with yurts, straw eco huts, allotments, open field spaces and soon to be a tree house! They are looking for volunteers to help work and maintain the site, and also to help run arts and craft workshops. This year they will be running 3 sessions:
Tuesdays 9am to 3:30pm: Children’s Workshops and tree house building (free lunch supplied)
Wednesday 2pm to 4:30pm & Saturday 9:30 - 12:30: Allotment and site work days (lunch or tea/cake supplied)
BUCS Surf Championships - October
BUCS is an annual, nationally recognised, sports competition, where university teams go head to head against each other. The surf event takes place in Newquay, North Cornwall, and they are always in need of volunteers to help run the event.
Flicka Horse & Donkey Sanctuary Volunteering
No experience needed for this, just good old fun horsing around. Follow the link below. Great for those looking for animal welfare and handling experience. Kayak Estuary Clean
Join us (Encounter Cornwall) for an estuary clean up with a difference on the Fowey Estuary! Marine litter is a huge problem around the UK, affecting a wide range of wildlife and site of beauty. We will be taking to the kayaks to have a good old clean. Kayak experience is desirable but if you have not kayaked before please do let us know, and we will make sure some extra training is given.
Woodlane Nursery Fun Sessions - on going
The Woodlane Nursery Volunteer project will be under new leadership in Spring 2015. They sessions run from arts and crafts, to outings with the children. They love the visit and get very excited for the event. This sessions normally run on a Wednesday afternoon. Once the new committee is up and running, dates will be posted.
