What if you just leave it? Rewilding unwrapped with Dr. Sam Rose Tickets, Thu 24 Mar 2022 at 18:00 | Eventbrite

Sam spent the last two years – in between lockdowns – visiting rewilding sites in the UK as part of a major project for his MA in Photography at the Arts University Bournemouth. His work as taken him from Cornwall to Norfolk, Devon to the Cairngorms, and it has been a revelation. He has made an extensive body of photographic work, undertaken a huge number of interviews and put these into a website

www.whatifyoujustleaveit.info and podcast of the same name.

Sam will tell the audience about his journey though the project, showing mainly still images and talking about rewilding at a range of locations. He will include what he has learnt from the amazing people he has met along the way, and his views on the concept of rewilding – what this really means and why many people are still in two minds about it.

About the speaker

Dr Sam Rose is a geographer, photographer and podcaster who has way too many degrees. Sam’s PhD was on Tropical Forest Biodiversity, but somehow he ended up in Dorset from 2004-2019 managing England’s only natural World Heritage Site, the Jurassic Coast. In 2019 Sam decided to leave geology behind, explore being a photographer and go back to his roots with biodiversity, focusing on rewilding as his photography project theme. Sam is also a freelance consultant working on natural World Heritage in Scotland and with a small rewilding charity in Dorset.
