Tremough FC score hat trick of Cornwall league trophies

Tremough FC, part of Falmouth and Exeter Students’ Union, make Cornwall Sunday League history as the first team to secure treble trophies. Winning the Sunday Championship County Cup, the Sunday Football League Knockout Cup, and the Cornwall Combined Sunday League in the 22/23 season, makes this the most successful season for the club in its 20-year history

Welcome

The team, made up of students from Falmouth University and the University of Exeter Cornwall, were undefeated in all competitions.

The club was founded in 2003 by a group of students, including David Brandson. After David left university and the club, his parents, Bill and Ethne continued supporting the club by attending weekly matches and hosting players for end-of-season barbecues. Sadly, Ethne Brandson passed away in 2022, the club have hosted fundraisers in her name and added a sloth to their kit in her honour.

Tremough FC are running a charity football match to unite past players and celebrate the successes of the season.

Caius Datt, Club President, said, “We’re so proud of these titles and the hard work that everyone has put in. This is an historical moment for our club as the first group to win treble trophies in the club’s existence and in Cornwall.

Our local links are what make our university team so special, adding to the community, inclusivity, and comradery within the team. We’re forever grateful to the Brandson family, Bill and Ethne Brandson were always there to support the squad.

When Ethne passed away last year, we knew that we needed to make this season special, we’ve been hosting charity fundraisers and added a sloth to our kit in her memory – it was her favourite animal.”

Tremough FC will be hosting a charity ‘legends’ match at Falmouth School from 1pm-4pm on 10 June 2023. The match will be bringing together current players and players from the last 20 years in a friendly charity football game.

All proceeds raised will go to Lymphoma Action and Blood Cancer UK.
